IPMS Telford Scale ModelWorld 2011 12th and 13th of November Preview

Friday – it’s the day before arguably the largest IPMS meet in Great Britain (some say “in the world”) – again off we go to Telford International Centre to see the cream of the modelling world in retail and in competition – not to mention in exhibition as several special interest groups show off their kits and hobbies in this world renown show – here’s some of what to expect at the event on the weekend. Osprey Aircraft author Tony Holmes will be there – It’s your chance to chew his ear about anything and everything from the Osprey world – any ideas or suggestions I am sure he will indulge (probably as he is selling you one of the great Osprey’s titles on sale at his stand)

Scale ModelWorld is an annual model show which this year will be held on 12th and 13th November at the International Centre in Telford, Shropshire. The show is organised and staffed by IPMS members and is recognised as the largest model show in the world both in terms of size and visitor numbers and attracts thousands of people from all over the globe.

 If you are an IPMS Member your entry is free and all members are encouraged to enter the model competition held in the halls over the weekend. The show hosts the National Competition with over one thousand entries.

 This year is the first time time Finemolds and Zoukei Mura have ever attended a European show and Mr Kunihiro Suzuki, President and founder of FineMolds will attend in person is giving 2 x 1 hour talks over the weekend. Model company Masterclub from Russia will have their founder there Sergey Babich to launch over thirty new figures from their excellent range of finely sculpted figures.

For the little (and the big) kids the original K-9 from Dr Who will be attendance along with the impressive spaceship model “the Liberator” will be there on Mat Irvine’s stand.  Airfix will have their “make and take” kit stand going on for people to get involved with modelling. BarracudaCals will be present so you can chew Roy’s ear off about his latest creations for the spitfire and of course the Mustang as well as his excellent new book “HellHawks” about the P-47

Those lovely people from Grey Matter Figures will have a stand in the show – they have some excellent add-ons to all scale aircraft as well as holding the rights to a lot of Jerry Rutman’s back catalogue of resin kits they also do some eye-popping figure as well.  Revell from Germany will have a large stand at the show and if last year’s announced products would be at least equalled in number we are all in for a treat!
