Large turret and ring plus the 130 mm gun barrel
Side skirts and exterior details
The boat like underside
Again the top looks like a boat - but really it is a sharply angled glacis
The steel road wheels
Nice details to weather in there
The gun barrel looks impressive
The lovely texture on the cast turret will impress people
And the flanks..
And some of the many tracks - you will be busy!

1/35th Soviet tank - "Object 279"
Object 279 (Объект 279) was a Soviet experimental
heavy tank developed at the end of 1959 – it was extraordinary development in
armoured warfare – It’s armour at the thickest point was 269 mm, and it was
covered by a thin, elliptical shield protecting it against APDS and shaped
charge ammunition, and preventing it from overturning by the shockwave in case
of a nuclear explosion!
The shape of the hull was a revolutionary type and
the four tracks under the hull were to help with mobility of such a large and heavy
vehicle (60 tonnes) on the harsh Russian terrain. (I hope you like making
tracks!!) It did not work as well as theorised and that is one of the reasons (
along with the weight of the vehicle) that it did not succeed as a design.
The all-cast turret, with a maximum armor thickness
of 319 mm,[2] was rounded and had anti-HEAT protective panels. The turret ring
was also heavily protected. The tank was equipped with a chemical, biological,
radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) protection.
The massive main gun was a 103mm calibre with a
muzzle velocity of 1000 m/s, for the 33 kg armor-piercing tracer shell, and a maximum
armor penetration of 450 mm of rolled homogeneous armour (RHA) at 90°.
The gun was provided with a semi-automatic loading
system with a rate of fire of 5-7 rounds/min. Firing control system comprised
optical/radar rangefinder, auto-guidance system and L2 night-sight with an
active infrared searchlight.
This
tank should be available at the end of the month from all of Panda’s
Distributors.. including Pacific Coast Models in
the U.S. and you can also get it in Europe from AVAX models the Czech Republic.
