Takom’s new kit is the Skoda 42cm M.1917 Heavy Siege
Howitzer that includes a figure of the commander of the Siege of Sevastopol in 1942
Field Marshal Erich von Manstein.
Although it’s a 1/35th scale kit it dwarfs the previous Skoda Howitzer 32cm gun already released by Takom. It is a whole lot bigger as we see by the comparison pictures sent by Takom.

This gun was used to devastating effect by the Germans
during the Siege of Sevastopol in 1942. And Von Manstein was in charge of the
offensive that saw both sides pay a heavy price in men and machinery.
These ARE the same scale believe it or not.
History of the Skoda
42cm M.1917 Heavy Siege Howitzer
In 1939, the Wehrmacht possessed two 42-cm howitzers M.16 /
17. Howitzers were made in 1917 at the "Skoda" for the
Austro-Hungarian army. After 1918 they were in the Czechoslovak and Italian
armies. In the Wehrmacht was called howitzer 42 cm H. (t). The length of the
barrel howitzer was 6290/15 mm / klb. The weight of the barrel with the wedges
