Elite troops of the empire, these Shadow troopers exist somewhere in Star Wars canon, and Bandai probably couldn't have gone to less effort when churning this one out - their new (different colour moulding) Shadow Trooper in 1/6th scale in our preview...
The Shadow Trooper in Star Wars "history"
Shadow troopers were elite and highly trained stormtroopers that served the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War against the Rebel Alliance. They wore distinguishing black suits of experimental armour coupled with portable cloaking devices, rendering them almost completely invisible and highly suited for stealth missions. Shadow troopers overwhelmed their enemies by attacking in hordes, using T-21 heavy blasters along with flash grenades.
Shadow troopers were highly trained, elite, and fanatically loyal stormtroopers that served the Galactic Empire. They wore specialized, experimental stealth armour made from stygian-triprismatic polymer that enhanced the shadow troopers' stealth capability and allowed them to avoid sensors. The armour, similar in appearance to standard stormtrooper armour, was entirely black in colour, with the exception of the white Imperial crest adorning the left chest. Like standard stormtrooper helmets, the armoured helmets worn by shadow troopers featured heat dispersion vents and blue-tinted exhaust filters located on each side of the face. In the same manner, the shadow trooper helmets were equipped with a direct speaker placed between two induction filters on the chin section. The helmet's eye lenses and mouth area were grey in colour.
Shadow troopers were equipped with portable cloaking devices that rendered them almost completely invisible as they moved around. Outfitted with a wide range of survival equipment, the troopers wielded T-21 heavy blasters and flash grenades.
Shadow troopers' stealth equipment made them highly suitable for missions requiring cunning rather than brute force. They were able to appear out of thin air and surprise their enemies. With their T-21 heavy blasters capable of delivering massive damage at long ranges, and flash grenades capable of disorienting their enemies, these elite shock troops attacked in hordes to overwhelm their opponents.
The Stormtroopers from Bandai:
These were always a fan favourite (don't know why) but the Stormtrooper brand in any colour is an Icon of the Star Wars series and an easy, probably safe first kit in this larger scale…
The new Bandai 1/6 Scale Stormtrooper will be approximately 30.5 centimetres tall, and set to be released in December 2018 at an expected price of 7,020 yen (about € 61.30/ USD$67) Here is a comparison with the well known 12th scale kit a lot of you may already have.
Again, this kit is meant to be snap assembled, and then upon assembly fully articulate – you can see some of the features such as the feet are but so they “flex” and appear to bend. This might annoy some who want a better model – but putty and paint fix this.
Seriously now - This 1/6th scale version from Bandai comes with three weapons, a choice of several different hand parts, and a base square for him to stand on. We are hoping this one sells well so there is yet more choice to come from Bandai.
There is also a choice of various hand parts various hand parts, pointing, clenched as a fist, palm open. This will help you show him in plenty of situations. Lastly, also included is a display base - we have not seen this as of yet.
