HobbyBoss have a forecast of heavy armour with a touch of lightning for January

It seems armoured warfare is in Hobbyboss’ future in the month of January (with  little bit of lightning forecast as well) as we go through their latest new releases for the new year in today’s news…

HobbyBoss January 2014 Releases..

1:35 Soviet T-37 Amphibious Light Tank - Early
The T-37 was a Soviet amphibious light tank. The tank was first created in 1932, based on the British Vickers tankette and other operational amphibious tanks. The T-37 was the first series of mass-produced fully amphibious tanks in the world.

In the Red Army, they were used to perform tasks in communication, reconnaissance, and as defence units on the march, as well as active infantry support on the battlefield. The T-37 was used in large numbers during the Soviet invasion of Poland and in the Winter War against Finland. The T-37 was also used by the Soviets in the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, but most of them were quickly lost. Surviving tanks of that type fought on the front lines until 1944, and were used in training and auxiliary defence until the end of World War II.

1:35 German Le.Pz.Sp.Wg (Sd.Kfz.221) Leichter Panzerspahwagen-Earl

The Leichter Panzerspähwagen were a series of light four-wheel drive armoured cars produced by Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1944.
It used the standard sPkw I Horch 801 chassis with an angled armoured body and turret.
The rear mounted engine was a 67 kW (90 hp) Horch 3.5 petrol engine, giving it a road speed of 80 km/h and a cross-country speed of 40 km/h . It had a maximum range of 300 km.
Used by the reconnaissance battalions (Aufklärungs-Abteilung) of the Panzer divisions, the type performed well enough in countries with good road networks, like those in Western Europe. However, on the Eastern Front and North Africa, this class of vehicle was hampered by its relatively poor off-road performance. In those theatres, it gradually found itself replaced in the reconnaissance role by the Sdkfz 250 half-track.
