Field Artillery Tractors played an important part in World
War II, which was already highly mechanized. The various countries found
variety of different solutions to the problem of towing heavy guns. Great
Britain and the Commonwealth for example adopted 4-whheel drive tractors. Widely
used in Europe and the Far East, CMP Artillery Tractors soldiered on through
the immediate post-war years in both military and civilian guise. By virtue of
their power and reliability many of these tractors survive today alongside more
modern vehicles. Our model was produced by General Motors in Canada.

The twin-engine attack aircraft A-26 Invader, designed and
manufactured by the American company Douglas, has had an extraordinary long
operational life. The first units reached the war front during the Second World
War, in 1943, and the latest versions have taken part in all the major
conflicts of the '50s and '60s, such as Korea and Indochina, until the Vietnam
War. The most produced version was the A-26B characterized by the adoption of
heavy weaponry in a “solid” nose equipped with 8 .50 caliber Browning M2
machine guns. Thanks to its reliability and solidity, was possible to install
in the nose a wide range of weapons such
as 20 mm. guns, 37 mm guns, and a 75mm pack howitzer. The two reliable Pratt
& Whitney R-2800 "Double Wasp" 2,000 hp radial engines permitted
to A-26 to reach a max speed of 570 Km/h even “fully loaded”.
