1:350th scale HMS TYPE 23 Frigate – Monmouth (F235)
The Type 23 frigate is a class of frigate serving with the
Royal Navy of the United Kingdom. All the ships are named after British Dukes,
thus the class is also known as the Duke class. The first Type 23 was
commissioned in 1989, and the sixteenth, HMS St Albans was launched in May 2000
and commissioned in June 2002. The combination of Merlin helicopters with their
advanced anti-submarine equipment, and Sonar 2087, has according to the Royal
Navy, re-affirmed its reputation as a leader in anti-submarine warfare.
HMS Monmouth is
the sixth Type 23 frigate of the Royal Navy. She is the seventh ship to bear the
name and was launched by Lady Eaton in 1991, being commissioned two years
later.

German 37mm Flak 43 Zwilling
The new 3.7
cm Flak 43 was a dramatic improvement over the older models. With a new
gas-operated breech improved the practical firing rate to 150 RPM, while at the
same time dropping in weight to 1,250 kg in combat set up, and mere 2,000 kg in
transport. The barrel was shortened to 89 calibres. It was also produced in a
twin-gun mount, the 3.7 cm Flakzwilling 43, although this version was
considered somewhat unwieldy and top-heavy.
Large-scale production did not start until 1944 and about 7,216 were
produced by end of the war (Zwillings included, each counted as two guns).

1/32nd scale A-1J AD-7 Skyraider
The Douglas A-1 Skyradier was designed as the new generation
torpedo/bomber but entered service too late to enter the Second World War. The
Navy used the Skyradier as a new attacker for the outstanding performance in
the strike missions and long loiter time over target. The A-1J was the final
production version of the Skyradier family, they were powered by a new
R-3350-26WB engine and with structural improvements to increase wing fatigue
life, some extra antennas were added on the fuselage. Some 2 aircraft were
built.
