Cessna 172 Skyhawk

The single-engine fixed-wing Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a real milestone in the civil and commercial aviation history. It was developed during the ‘50s, and it is characterized either by its extraordinary longevity or the incredible commercial success with more than 43,000 units produced.  The "Skyhawk" is a single-engine four-seater high-wing plane and is used both as light commercial aircraft and as a training plane. 

Characterized by its simple design based on the high wing and the frontal tricycle landing gear, it is able to reach the cruiser speed of 230 Km/h and to carry on board one pilot and three passengers A curiosity: on May 1987 the Skyhawk was used by a young German pilot to fly an unauthorized flight from Helsinki through Soviet airspace and to land close to Red Square in Moscow.

Wellington Mk IC

The Vickers Wellington was a twin-engined medium bomber widely used, since the early days of World War II, by the British Royal Air Force. At the outbreak of the war, it was the most advanced and modern aeroplane available in the Bomber Command squadrons. Its design and development were implemented around a geodesic airframe able to guarantee robustness and performance.

Decals for six versions in RAF and captured German service

The Mk IC version were produced in over 2500 units. Thanks to its two Bristol Pegasus radial engines, capable of delivering 1,050hp, the Wellington was able to reach and exceed the maximum speed of 370 Km / h and to carry a good offensive load. The Mark IC had a crew of six; the pilot, the radio operator, the navigator, the tail gunner, the waist gunner and the observer. During the war, due to the adoption of the four engines heavier bombers, the role of Wellingtons changed, and they were progressively adapted to different operational needs but showing the quality and the reliability of the original project.

The name “Smoky” comes from the racehorse owned by the driver father (from here “Junior”) which, used to winning, during the race was disappearing like a puff of smoke in front of his opponents. In a Wild West atmosphere, the horses are the protagonists in the airbrushed sides of his DAF XF 105 too.

The McDonnel Douglas F-15 is an all-weather single seat American fighter, developed with the specific goal to gain and maintain air superiority. The F-15 Eagle has been designed during the ‘70s to provide to U.S. Air Force a modern and extremely high-performance advanced fighter. The F-15C is representing the latest version. Nowadays largely used by U.S. Air Force, U.S. National Guard, and by the Air Forces of several Countries as Japan, Israel, and Saudi Arabia.

The F-15 took part in the Gulf War in 1991, and it was able to guarantee the air superiority to Coalition Forces. It has been the most effective fighters with an impressive high number of enemy planes shot down. Armed with a 20mm. M61 gun it can use a wide variety of air-to-air missiles. Thanks to the two powerful Pratt & Whitney F-100 after-burring turbofans engines, the “Eagle” can reach the maximum speed of Mach 2.5.

T-55 Iraqi Army - Gulf War 25th Anniversary

The T-55 is a direct evolution of the Soviet Tank T-54. The T-55, introduced just after the end of World War II, has been the main battle tank used by Red Army and Warsaw Pact countries armoured units for a lot of years.  Characterized by good armour and the reliable 100 mm gun, it has been developed around a simple concept, to guarantee a relatively low production cost and an easy maintenance on the battlefield.  The T-55 was one of the most produced and used tanks of History. Produced in several versions, it has also been adopted by many Countries direct linked to Soviet influence area. It was used for example by Iraqi armoured troops in the 1980-1988 war against Iran and during the war in Kuwait on January - February 1991.
