Seems like Bronco Models are working on their moulds of the Zil-131cargo truck they released recently - this time the Zil-131 ( &130) tractor truck is up for the 35th scale injection moulding process treatment. Let us have a look at the real thing, as well as the feature set on this new kit from Bronco...
The Zil-131 is a Russian military 6x6 3.5 - 5-tonne truck first introduced in 1967.The Zil-131 replaced the Zil-157 series trucks which appeared in the late 1950's. It has been built in several versions including cargo truck, tanker, dump truck and tractor used with several different trailers.
The Zil-131v was the commonly used tractor unit for the SA-2 Guideline Surface To Air missile transporter trailer. It has since been used as a tractor for other semi-trailers in Russia and by her allies.
It is powered by a 150bhp V-8 petrol engine, giving a road speed of 80 km/h and a range of 650 kilometres. The all-metal cab has seating for the driver and two passengers. Over 1 Million Zil-131 series trucks were manufactured from 1967 to 1994. These simple robust trucks were designed for the harshest weather conditions and roughest of roads. Despite its age, it is still in service with the Russian military. They have seen action in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The Kit from Bronco
This truck from Bronco was very good looking in the cargo flatbed version - now the truck, which we think will be used by a lot of modellers as a civilian or post cold war version in a number of variations. We look forward to seeing what modellers do with this one, and we can see a lot more variants coming based on this truck in the future.
Here are the 3D renders of this big ol' truck from the Soviet era cold war fame from Bronco
Let's look a little at Bronco's product brochure about this kit and see some of the quite interesting features this model offers.
