PLA Navy Type 055 Destroyer

The Type 055 destroyer is equipped with 130 mm naval guns, 1130 near-anti-aircraft guns, Hongqi-10 anti-aircraft missiles, 32-tube multi-function launchers, new S-band active phased array radar, and dual helicopter hangars. The ship can launch anti-ship, anti-aircraft, anti-submarine missiles and land-attack long-range cruise missiles, while adding anti-missile combat capabilities. The ship uses the most modern information gathering equipment, network radio and electronic technology and is equipped with more advanced sea-to-air and sea-to-sea radars.

The destroyer Nanchang was launched at the Jiangnan Shipyard in December 2014. It was launched on June 28, 2017, and participated in the official military parade on April 23, 2019.

F-100F Super Sabre

F-100 Super Sabre was a supersonic jet fighter aircraft that served with the USAF. The first example flew on 25 May 1953, followed by the first production F-100 on 9 October 1953. The F-100F two-seat trainer entered service in 1958. It retains most the same weapons and airframe upgrades as the F-100D. The F-100F would conduct dangerous low-level missions to spot targets for other fighter-bombers, reconnaissance, SAR (search and rescue) and was the first “Wild Weasel” SEAD (suppression of enemy air defences) aircraft.

Internal armament consisted of two 20-mm Pontaic M-39 cannon. Underwing loads could include up to 5000 pounds of bombs and fuel tanks on six stations. The “Hun” logged over 360,000 combat sorties during the Vietnam War until operations ended in 1971.

USS Kitty Hawk CV-63

USS KITTY HAWK, the lead ship of the modern Kitty Hawk class of multi-role aircraft carriers, was laid down in December 1956 and constructed by the New York Shipbuilding Corporation at Camden New Jersey. Launched on May 21st 1960 and commissioned at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard on April 29th 1961, KITTY HAWK was originally designated CVA-63 (Aircraft Carrier, Attack, #63), re-designated CV-63 (non-nuclear) in May 1975.

KITTY HAWK saw action in campaigns ranging from Vietnam to the Gulf Wars. The super-carrier provided a base for airstrikes against Iraqi targets in 1992/93, enforcement of Iraqi no-fly zones in 1999, and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Refits were carried out at Bremerton in 1977, 1982 and 1998, and from 1987 to 1991 KITTY HAWK was overhauled under the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) at Philadelphia.

During its long service life, KITTY HAWK’s aircraft arm has included A-1 Skyraider, A-4 Skyhawk, A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair, EA-6B Prowler, E-2 Hawkeye, F-4 Phantom, F-14 Tomcat, F/A-18 Hornet, S-3B Viking, UH-2, SH-60/HH-60 Seahawk helicopters, and C-2 Greyhound. KITTY HAWK was the US Navy’s last conventionally powered supercarrier and a decommissioning ceremony took place at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington on May 12th 2009. The ship is currently inactive.
