Stalingrad Miniatures have been busy making a new "big set" of tankers from the end days of WWII. These figures are sold only in a set of thirteen tankers to suit a Panzer IV in 35th scale. We have the pictures that the sculptor Alexander Zelenkov used to help create this scene and a good look at each of the figures...
The set of 13 figures and accessories painted up on the rear deck of a 35th scale Panzer IV...
Here are each of the thirteen(we still can't get over that) figures and the stowage and equipment that goes along with this release. Each of the men has a unique pose, not only tankers, but tank riders, infantrymen are here in the same excellent detail that was sculpted by Alexander Zelenkov
Weapons and equipment on the soldiers, their clothing all hint strongly at a winter timeline for these soldiers, as the title of "Panzer Riders, Hungary 1945 Big Set 13 figures and accessories" says, the final days of Hungary's defence by the Germans is a good fit. However, the Kharkov and reversible parkas could even see these soldiers backdated to 1943 with some imagination. The Kar.98 rifle, "jerry" can, tarp with large rolls of sausage, a parka, some Panzer IV road wheels, ammo box, a Panzerfaust, an oil "plinker" can, two MG 42 ammo boxes, a cloth and of course a bucket (!) included to drape around the soldiers as they cram on to the rear deck make this a busy scene...
We are lucky enough to get a photo of the scene that inspired this set, the Panzer IV's heading off into the cold with soldiers warmly dressed holding on tight to the lurching tank as it goes forward...
Here is the sculpt, with a lot of those soldier's body language, clothing and expressions of their faced duplicated in resing.
Another photo of if not the same scene one very close to it. The faces of the tankers can clearly be seen in this shot - the deck of the tank full of any gear and men that can fit...
This shot of the set mirrors the above photo almost to a tee - the man looking directly at the camera as the tank trundles past is almost uncanny...
A view from above, from front and sides, showing the excellent detail the sculptor has lent to this set -
We must say that these releases come out so fast we wonder how he does it!
These figures are sold as a single set only - they are available right now - check these out and all of Alexander's other works at the Stalingrad Website:
