A set of a base and a dug in Fiat 13/40 to represent a improvised pillbox in North Africa during the desert campaign. Mechanically unsuitable or under armoured vehicles and tanks were often converted to pillboxes during the campaign, especially in the siege of Tobruk and other, stagnant battlefields before either side broke through the lines.

This set is designed to enhance the 1/35th scale Ukrainian BTR-80 - an 8×8 wheeled amphibious armoured personnel carrier (APC) designed in the USSR. It was adopted in 1985 and replaced the previous vehicles, the BTR-60 and BTR-70, in the Soviet Army. Fitting neatly into the sloped sides of the BTR, the formwork and sandbags give some applique armour value, as do teh piled sandbags ont he top which could also "top up" the side bags if needed.
