This figure is based on a real soldier of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler in World War II. SS-Stubaf. Heinz von Westernhagen had an illustrious career from fighting in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France in 1940, Greece, Russia, France, and then Belgium during his service. 

He is pictured here below in front of a Tiger I, no #311 of the schwere SS-Panzer Abteilung 101, Belgium 1944 are from left to right -  SS-Obersturmführer Jürgen Wessel, SS-Hauptsturmführer Michael Wittmann (partially hidden), SS-Sturmbannführer Heinz von Westernhagen (pointing at the map), SS-Obersturmführer Hanno Raasch and SS-Untersturmführer Willi Iriohn.

Seen in an all around view here, he has his map folded under his arm. His flat forage overseas cap in his head. You can see his finer facial features here very well in the sculpture by Gwangyeol Lee.

The sharp-eyed amongst you will see the folds not only in his paper map, but in his pants of his overalls, but the upper half of his body, his waist, shoulders and collar, All creased and pinched with wear and the twisting of the body.
