The introduction of the Macchi MC 202 Folgore was a significant development for the fighter squadrons of the Italian Regia Aeronautica. Stylishly designed from an aerodynamical perspective, it was fitted with the powerful German DB 601 engine produced under license by the Italian aeronautical industry. The engine and overall aeronautical performance of the aircraft provided the Regia Aeronautica with a fighter capable of actively engaging Allied fighters.

The flight performance compared to the previous generation of fighters equipped with radial engines, such as the Fiat G-50 and the Macchi Mc-200, was in fact much better. Manoeuvrable and fast (it was able to reach 600 km h), it was armed, in the early versions, with two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns installed in the nose. Only in later versions were the armaments improved with additional machine-guns installed in the wings.

FIAT 131 Abarth Rally OLIO FIAT

The Fiat 131 Abarth evolved from the initial two-door sedan model. The Abarth development involved many interventions such as the adoption of a lighter chassis, larger wheel mudguards,  air intakes on the bonnet and on the sides to optimize the mechanical cooling system. The Fiat 131 Abarth used an in-line front longitudinal 4-cylinder engine with a light alloy head and 4 valves per cylinder. Initial manufacturing began in 1976 leading to participation in the World Rally Championship where it won three constructors' championships, a FIA Drivers' Cup and a drivers' championship.

It took part in international competitions until 1982 when it was replaced by Lancia brand cars. Some of its body liveries, associated with the sponsors of the period, have become iconic in the history of "off road" motor racing competitions.

The military vehicle developed for the US Army with the acronym HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle), universally known as the "Humvee", is representative of the technological evolution of US "know-how" applied to the creation of extremely flexible, ‘all-condition’ vehicles of which even the "Willys", is still an icon today. The "Humvee" went into production during the 1980s and is characterized by its large dimensions and operational flexibility, due in part to the four-wheel drive and the robust structure, which can withstand the most challenging operational and environmental conditions.

Different versions were made for roles such as troop transport, logistics, advanced reconnaissance and target acquisition. The M966 Tow Carrier version was equipped with a Tow missile system mounted on the roof of the vehicle in order to increase the Humvee's offensive potential against tanks and other armored vehicles.

Sd. Kfz. 250/3

The half-track Sd.Kfz. 250 was widely used by German mechanized troops during the Second World War. Based upon on the technical "lay-out" of the Sd.Kfz.10 artillery tractor, it was intended to be a flexible and reliable solution for integrating infantry and armored troop movements. The Sd.Kfz. 250 was armed with either one or two 7.92mm MG34 machine guns and could deploy, with a high level of protection, a 4-man infantry squad to the battlefield.

The operational reliability of the vehicle led to the development of numerous variants, one of which was the 250/3 Leichter Funkpanzerwagen (Light Armored Radio Link Vehicle), used as a radio control nerve center between forward troops, artillery and air support. The "Greif" used by Erwin Rommel in North Africa as a fully advanced command post in close contact with frontline troops is a noted version.
