Shuttles, an otter, a fox, princess & a dog in Gecko's new releases....

Gecko models has announce four new kits to the public yesterday, with two from their Vietnam War era series, and two from around WWII-era. We look at them in our preview here for you...

Desert Fox
From Gecko Models
1/16th scale
Kit No 16GM0013
Plastic injection kit
This kit of Erwin Rommel in 1/16th scale looks like an adaption of their 35th scale figure. To suit a lot of other larger scale releases of late, this figure just needs a  sd.Kfz.250 halftrack with "Grief" on the side of it to stand next to! The kit includes the trench periscope component parts...

Princess & dog
From Gecko Models
1/16th scale
Kit No 16GM0013
Plastic injection kit
The kit replicates Gecko Models rather popular kit that contained a Princess of note next to her wartime vehicle in which she was photographed near. This kit is upscaled to 1/16th scale, again for the widening range of larger scale kits out there to join.  Liz was certainly a dog lover, but we could not find this dog in photos, sorry!
The parts of the kit are here...
...Including the very Germanic dog!

M76 Amphibious Cargo Carrier “OTTER” (Early Production)
From Gecko Models
1/35th scale
Kit No# 35GM0102
100% new tooling
Having tyres and tracks, the M76 "Otter" was an amphibious cargo carrier used by the United States Marine Corps (USMC). It was designed and built by Pontiac Motor Division in the late 1940s and intended as a replacement for the M29 Weasel. It entered service with the USMC in the early 1950s and many saw action in the Vietnam War.
The CAD images of the kit include a replica of the box art's colours - "Cong Killer"...
And two raw CADs of the kit showing the plastic and hopefully small amount of photoetch that we can see.
The armoured shield around the driver's cab is an option here.

Saigon Shuttle Motor-Tricycle Depot and "take break driver"
From Gecko Models
Kit No #35GM0113
1/35th scale
The Lambros were present in Saigon from as early as the 1950s. They reached their peak time in the early 1970s. With the privatization policies adopted by the old Southern Government, people could afford instalment purchases with very low interest rates. This led to the strong increase of Xe Lam ownership. At that time, the vehicle itself was not cheap: 30 gold bars (1.125 kg) each. After 1975, the Xe Lam still played an important role in transportation in the South of Vietnam, due to the lack of and immobility of cars. However, in the 1990s, cheap motorbikes became popular, meaning that the Xe Lam became less common. It was used mainly for carrying garbage or other materials. Today, 3-wheel Lambros can still be found in Saigon.

Lambretta tricycles in 60's Saigon.
The Kit: "Saigon Shuttle Motor-Tricycle Depot and a take break driver" includes two vehicles and one driver figure, who is seen taking a rest, reading a book (a map?) sitting in the driver's door arch of one of the Lambros. Two Lambros are included in this kit. We have seen the single variant full of people already.

These kits have not been advertised by distributors yet - which is usually the first people know of them, so no pricing or other information yet. We will let you know when we know more.
