The Subject: Jagdpanzer IV/70(V) (Sd.Kfz.162/1
During the latter part of WWII, Germany's Jagdpanzer concept led to the creation of a tank destroyer that was both cheaper and quicker to produce than traditional turreted tanks. The Jagdpanzer IV (Sd.Kfz.162/1), equipped with a 7.5cm PaK42 L/70 gun, began production in August 1944. Over 900 units were eventually built, earning the nickname "Guderian’s Duck."
This vehicle utilized the chassis and drivetrain of the Panzer IV tank, with the 7.5cm gun mounted in a fixed superstructure without a muzzle brake. The V stood for the manufacturer, Vogtlandische Maschinenfabrik AG (Vomag), while the word lang (Eng. Long) referred to the L/70 gun.
Weighing 25.8 tonnes, it was favoured by its crews for its powerful armament, good mobility, and low profile, particularly in the defensive battles of late WWII. The Jagdpanzer IV L/70 saw action on both the Western and Eastern Fronts, with the highest concentration of these vehicles during the Ardennes Offensive.

The Kit:
The kit is a continuation of Border Models Jagdpanzer IV series. It brings pretty much what you would expect in this series, with opening or closed hatches, link and length tracks, the gun and aiming devices move together, and the metal L70 barrel is included in this kit. There are also four marking choices included in the box, along with stowage in the form of buckets, cloth rolls, spare helmets, ammo boxes and of course - what tank is complete without a bucket?
This kit is not on their website yet, but Hobbylink Japan always get their kits. Check out the Border Models website for more information...
