During World War II, Argonaut played a significant role in several key operations. She was part of Operation Torch, the Allied landings in North Africa, and later participated in Operation Overlord, the Normandy Landings. Additionally, she took part in Operation Dragoon, the invasion of Southern France. Her service was not without peril; in December 1942, she sustained heavy damage from torpedoes launched by an Italian submarine. Despite this, she was repaired and returned to active duty.

After the war, Argonaut was placed in reserve and eventually decommissioned. Her final fate was to be scrapped in 1955, marking the end of her naval career.

Mi-24A Hind B
by Trumpeter
Kit No#05828
1/48th scale
The Mi-24A Hind, developed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, is a Soviet multi-purpose attack helicopter that first took to the skies on September 19, 1969. It was introduced into service by the Soviet Air Force in 1972. The Mi-24A was designed to serve both as an attack helicopter and a troop transport, capable of carrying eight passengers. This dual role made it a unique and formidable asset on the battlefield. The helicopter’s development was driven by the need for a versatile combat platform that could provide close air support and transport troops. The Mi-24A featured a large glazed canopy and side-by-side seating for the pilot and weapon systems officer, which initially drew criticism from its crews. Despite these early criticisms, the Mi-24A set a helicopter speed record in 1978, flown by test pilot Gurgen Karapetyan, which stood for eight years.
