Airfix has given their fans some online eye candy with the release of their digital catalogue for 2024. There are some new items plus some older, known subjects that have been in their stable for many years in here.
A50173A – 1:72 Battle of Britain Gift Set
To mark the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, which took place between 10th of July to 31st October 1940 over the skies of Britain, it was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by airpower. With this in mind, Airfix are re-releasing the Battle of Britain Gift Set, which includes 4 iconic aircraft that flew during the Battle of Britain. This set comes complete with a display stand that fits all 4 aircraft, all in 1:72 scale.
This set includes the following 1:72 scale kits:
-Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia
-Messerschmitt Bf109E-3
-Hawker Hurricane Mk.I
-Heinkel He111P-2
A50200 – 1:144 Space Shuttle
Last seen in the main range some 14 years ago in 2011, this release will include decals of all six versions constructed. This kit also includes the external tank and solid rocket boosters, with the kit totalling to 99 parts and moulded in white plastic, with an added finishing touch of a display stand to complete the build.
A50201 – 1:144 Saturn V
It was the Saturn V rocket and the Apollo 11 mission that first took two astronauts to the moon’s surface in July 1969. This kit was last released in the 2019 range and comprises of 79 parts, 1 scheme, moulded in white plastic, and a display base for the 770mm tall rocket.
A50202 – 1:144 SLS Artemis
This new mould 1:144 SLS Artemis is the newest amongst the Space
range in current Airfix history. Artemis is NASA’s most powerful rocket and the latest super-heavy lift launch vehicle, which plans to carry astronauts, cargo, and the Orion spacecraft around and eventually to the moon and later Mars. Once built, the model stands at 700mm tall and is displayed on its launch display stand. The kit consists of 79 pieces and is moulded in white plastic.
Classic Kits: New Moulds
As with every product range announcement, the most eagerly awaited category is the new moulds that Airfix have to offer, increasing the benchmark of detail each time. Whether you have stepped up in the skill department of the scale modelling hobby or are an advanced builder, There are multiple new mould releases, both within 1:72 and 1:48 scale.
A04068 – 1:72 Westland Wessex HC.2
This is the first new mould of this type since the 1980’s in this scale. Three decal options are included with this release; the first two are of the same airframe, XR505 of No. 2 Flying Training School RAF Shawbury 1995, which later saw service with the ‘Armada Nacional del Uruguay’ in 2000. The third scheme included is the XR500 of No. 28 Squadron RAF, Hong Kong, from 1978.
This 1:72 scale model features:
• Fully detailed interior with seating
• Poseable cabin door and cockpit windows
• Option for folded or unfolded rotor blades and tail
• Representation of quilted surfaces throughout the interior and cockpit
• Many optional parts, including lights, antennas, winch and canopy type
•3 decal options for this kit.
A05143 – 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9 -
A frequently requested kit in 1:48 scale and a first in Airfix history. Introducing the Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9, complete with 2 schemes and 128 parts.
This 1:48 scale model features:
• Unique subject not previously available in injection-moulded kit form
• Fine rivet detail and slide-moulded nylon cowling
• Specific post-war wing parts
• Both canopies can be posed closed or open to reveal the detail in both cockpits
• Decal options for an Irish Air Corps Spitfire Tr.9 and a famous post-war camouflage scheme
A05144 – 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXe
With Airfix's 1:24 scale Mk.IXe release in 2022, it’s only right to also introduce this variant in 1:48 scale, allowing others who don’t have the space for the 1:24 scale variant to recreate this variant in 1:48 scale. This kit includes 3 schemes and 124 parts.
This 1:48 scale model features:
• Fine rivet detail on the wings and fuselage
• Slide-moulded engine cowling
• Standard or clipped wingtip parts
• 3 decal schemes, including a No. 43 Squadron RAF aircraft based in Italy, as well as Danish and Belgian options for those wanting something different.
A11010 – 1:48 SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1/GR.1A
One of the most requested kits to date is now within the Airfix lineup. This new mould 1:48 scale SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1/GR.1A kit includes four schemes, 243 parts and an incredible amount of detail.
The following schemes are included;
• No.54 Squadron, RAF Lossiemouth, 1974
• No.6 Squadron, RAF Coltishall, 1990-94
• ‘XZ118 ‘Buster Gonad’, Operation Granby/Desert Storm, Bahrain, October 1990 to March 1991.
• N.11 Squadron, RAF Laarbruch, West Germany, 1976
This 1:48 scale model features:
• Detailed cockpit with optional early or late ejection seats
• Detailed undercarriage and wheel wells
• Stores include 1000lb bombs, 1200l fuel tanks, EMI reconnaissance pod, AIM-9L
Sidewinders, PHIMAT and AN/ALQ-101 ECM pod
• Airbrakes, flaps, slats and ailerons modelled in the down position
• Slide moulding on nose and fuselage for maximum detail
• Fine panel lines and rivets
A1381 – 1:35 Alvis FV622 Stalwart Mk.2
Airfix's new mould military vehicle for the 2025 range. This is the first plastic injection mould 1:35 scale of this vehicle, bringing you something that is quite unique and also pairing nicely with thier Ferret Scout car.
This 1:35 scale model features:
• Complex suspension system faithfully reproduced in 1:35th scale
• Detailed cab interior
• Cab roof hatches and water deflector boards can be built open or closed
• Optional parts for radio and exhaust pipe
• Marking options for three vehicles
Classic Kits: New Parts and Schemes
A04069 – 1:72 Messerschmitt Me410A-1
Following on from the first release of this new mould in 2024, the late HC.1 includes new fuselage parts, along with two schemes to choose from.
A1386 – 1:35 Ferret Scout Car Mk.1
With the Mk.2 debut release in 2023, Airfix now brings the Mk.1 version of the Ferret Scout Car. This release includes three schemes, including the C Squadron green and black camo version, the 7th Armoured Brigade—Operation Granby scheme from 1991, and a Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars scheme.A09011 – 1:72 Consolidated B-24D Liberator
Making its first debut as a new mould in 2024, Airfix reintroduces the B-24D Liberator in their 2025 range. This kit includes new parts, such as a new nose, plus glazing and armament parts.
A11009 – 1:48 Fairey Gannet COD.4.
This is the second release of this new mould from its original birth in 2023. This release includes new parts and three new schemes to truly represent the ‘Carrier Onboard Delivery’ variant. This kit includes 3 Royal Navy schemes to choose from.
The new parts included are:
• New bomb bay doors
• Wing-mounted luggage pods
• Various aerials and lights
